Clara GAA Notes

Under 8 Indoor Hurling
There was great excitement last Tuesday night in the Clara GAA Social Centre for the Final night of the U8 indoor hurling League. The format for this year was a league system and the results came down to the final games.Woodfield won their last two games by one goal beating Kilbride 4 goals to 3 and Kilcoursey 6 goals to 5. The Woodfield team was Dylan Dunne, Ben Melia, James McKenna, Niall Clerkin, Jack Cornally, MJ Handy and Ryan Fleming. Kilcoursey who were unbeaten in the league up to the final night must have had one eye on the cup and were beaten in their final two games by one goal 6 to 5 by Woodfield and and on the same score line they lost 6 goals to 5 goals to Kilbride. The Kilcoursey team was Jimmy Sherlock, Issac Ryan, Oisin O Meara,Ayden Kelly, Alex Kelly, Callum Tracey and Noah Dolan. Kilbride definitely played their best hurling on the final night and their team was Dylan Deehan Kavanagh, Ryan Handy, Tadhg Maher, Dara Rohan, Callum Gorman,Josh Guilfoyle and Scott Mannering. When all the points were added up Kilcoursey were the top team and received the Tom Naughton Cup from John Naughton.Woodfield and Kilbride ended up on the same number of points with Kilbride winning on goal difference and Orla Dolan presented The Tommy Dolan Cup to the Kilbride team. Michael Sheridan presented the Ber Cowen Cup to the Woodfield team and afterwords the Offaly Junior Hurling player of the year Joey Deehan presented medals to all the players. It was a great night and a great League and it was only possible with the help of Joe Deehan and Jim Buckley who prepared the hall each week and most of all to our referee Seamus Fleming who has refereed this league for the last 11 years and the Clara Gaa who sponsor the league.
