Ireland’s Independence Day 21st January & 1916 Centenary celebration

William James Mc Guire, the President of the Irish Republican Brotherhood will be celebrating Ireland’s Independence Day with a reading of their Proclamation under the pillars of the GPO at 2pm on Thursday, the 21st January 2016.

Ireland's Independence Day 21st January & 1916 Centenary celebrationThis will be followed by a short walking tour down Moore St, where the 1916 I.R.B. Military Council made their last attempt to freedom in order to reach the tunnel at the Rotunda which led to GHQ Vaughans Hotel, 29 Parnell Sq. There will be a wreath laying ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance for all the Volunteers who gave their lives for the cause of Irish Freedom. The tour will end at Vaughans Hotel,  opposite the Garden of Remembrance, for a brief description on the significance of this Historic building, where Dáil Éireann and the Dáil Éireann courts were funded and founded by the I.R.B.

The events will continue at Wynns Hotel, Abbey St., for a public session of the Turning of the Sovereign Seal of Dáil Éireann from 3-6 pm with guest speakers and harpists.

The 97th Annual Turning of the Sovereign Seal of Dáil Éireann and the Dáil Éireann courts (4 courts) will take place at 12 noon  at the private session in the Mansion House,  both of which were first ratified at the Cabinet table in the Mansion House at 12 noon on the 21st January 1919.

The name of the state is the Sovereign Republic of Éire, founded and funded by the Irish Republican Brotherhood. No other state was founded.
