Waterford Men in Audi Quattro Cup Final In Mexico

Waterford golfers Jimmy Meaney and Anthony Power have been declared the winners of the national final of the Audi quattro Cup amateur golf tournament, earning themselves a place at the 25th World Final in Mexico.

The pair took the trophy following a gripping day of golf at Carton House in Kildare on 27 August, winning with a final score of 43 points. They were followed in second and third place by Matt and Shane Kavanagh of Galway; and TJ Byrnes and Tony Monahan of Limerick, both pairs scoring 42 points.

Renowned Irish and international golfer, Christy O’Connor Junior, was also present at the tournament and took questions from an audience of enthusiasts.

Together, Meaney and Power will represent Ireland at the 25th Audi quattro Cup World Final in Los Cabos, Mexico, from 29 November-3 December. There, the Irish golfers will face teams from 53 countries worldwide.

The Audi quattro Cup, now in its 25th year, is an annual golf tournament open to current and prospective Audi buyers. Over one million golfers have taken part in the tournament since its inception, with 100,000 participants this year, making it the largest and most prestigious amateur golf tournament in the world. Over 862 Irish golfers took part in the national heats.
