U14 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna U14 Footballers  got their Championship campaign right back on track with a comprehensive win against Tullamore in Rd 3 last Monday week in Geashill on a scoreline of 5-21 to 2-05. Na Fianna had a couple of early chances before getting off the mark with their first goal after just 2 mins when Lee Mulpeter made a run down the wing before laying it off to Emmett Curley in the square who struck it to the net. Na Fianna then got 6 points in a row before Tullamore opened their account with a point on 10 mins but Na Fianna responded with their 2nd goal immediately when Mikey Buckley’s high shot was punched to the net first time by Lee Mulpeter. Na Fianna kept rattling off the scores for the remainder of the first half as they added 10 more points with just a single pointed free reply from Tullamore to lead at the break by 2-16 to 0-02. Any hope of a comeback were quashed straight from the start of the second half as Na Fianna put over a point followed by goal no 3 inside the 1st min finshed to the net by Mikey Buckley. By the mid pooint of the half when Tullamore got in to score a goal Na Fianna had well and truly wrapped it up as Lee Mulpeter fired in 2 more goals and Ryan Strong put over 3 points with just a single point reply from Tullamore. By now Na Fianna had used their full compliment of subs and they eased off on the attack adding just 1 more point as Tullamore got a consolation 1-02 in the last 5 mins to put a slightly better gloss on their tally.

U14 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna U14 Footballers are right on course to claim a Quarter Final spot in the Championship as they cruised to another comfortable win against Kilcormac / Killoughey in Mountbolus last Friday evening on a scoreline of 5-18 to 3-03. Na Fianna tore into K/K straight from the throw in and they launched wave upon wave of attacks racking up the scores along the way and by half time had accumulated a tally of 3-11 to just a single point for K/K with Na Fianna’s goals finished by Lee Mulpeter, Ryan Strong and Morgan Tynan. . At this stage with the win fairly safely secured Na Fianna were able to again bring on their full Quota of subs and ease back on their intensity which allowed K/K to get more chances as they added 3-02 to their tally with 1 of their goals a well taken penalty struck to the top left corner of the net by Dan Murray giving the keeper no chance but Na Fianna  were still able to win the second half aswell with a further 2-07.
