Na Fianna Football Club Notes

U14 FOOTBALL FEILE LEAGUE SEMI FINAL

Na Fianna U14 Footballers just missed out on a place in the National Feile Peil na Nog as they were beaten by last years League & Championship winners Ferbane / Belmont in the the League Final last Friday evening in Clara on a scoreline of 4-08 to 2-03. Na Fianna reached the final by winning against Shamrocks in the Semi Final earlier on Friday evening by just the minimum margin in a very low scoring encounter 0-03 to 0-02. It was just 0-01 apiece at halftime. Both sides then added another point each before Jacob Beatty put over the winning point with just 3 mins left but Shamrocks still had a chance to level it with the last kick a 20m free which went wide. This put Na Fianna through to the final against Ferbane / Belmont who easily came through against Edenderry in their semi final. Na Fianna got off to a great start opening the scoring with 2 points followed by their first goal on 4 mins scrambled in by Lee Mulpeter. Unfortunately things went downhill from here as F/B got going scoring 3-03 without reply over the remainder of the half to set them on their way. F/B added another 1-03 early in the second half before Mark Dillon got in to score Na Fianna’s second goal on 13 mins but by this stage there just too big a gap to close and F/B wrapped it up with their last 2 points to Na Fianna’s 1 in the time remaining. Na Fianna wish Ferbane / Belmont the best of luck representing Offaly in the Feile Peil na Nog.
