Audi Ireland was today announced as the official car sponsor of this year’s Web Summit, Europe’s Biggest Festival of Ideas. The event has grown exponentially and this year the global gathering of the world’s leading thinkers and doers in technology will host 20,000 delegates in Dublin from 4th – 6th November.

As one of the leading innovators in the automotive world, “Vorsprung durch Technik” is the core belief that drives the development of every Audi vehicle. It inspires the innovative solutions and revolutionary engineering, some of which Audi are showcasing at the Web Summit under the theme “Audi Innovative Thinking”.

At the Web Summit, Audi will host the launch of the all-new A3 Sportback e-tron; the brand’s first plug-in hybrid model. This new model has the ability to cover up to 50 kilometres in pure electric mode, and its TFSI petrol engine offers a range of over 900 kilometres in combined mode.

For the 20,000 delegates to the Web Summit, an exclusive e-tron shuttle service will be available during the event between RDS main hall and the Simmonscourt Hall. Delegates can experience a complementary WIFI connectivity during a shuttle ride credit to Audi Connect technology available in the A3 Sportback e-tron.

Additionally a fleet of Audi A6 models will assist with the transport of Web Summit keynote speakers and Founders VIPs.

On Tuesday 4th November, Andreas Reich, Head of Audi’s Electronic Predevelopment will take to the Machine Stage to discuss the future of connected driving, and Audi ground-breaking piloted driving concept. Reich will provide insight into how Audi brought the world’s sportiest piloted driving car to the starting line on track.  The Audi RS 7 piloted driving concept raced around Hockenheimring in Germany without a driver reaching speeds of up to 240 kmph over the weekend.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Christian Gussen, managing director, Audi Ireland said; “This event is a strong brand fit for us and mirrors our own philosophy of Vorsprung durch Technik. At Audi we are very excited to connect and network with technology-savvy individuals who share that same passion for innovation.

“The Web Summit is also the ideal forum for us to showcase the all-new Audi A3 Sportback e-tron. Over the course of the three days, consumers and delegates will have the opportunity to experience a test ride in this new model, which delivers Audi’s objective of incredible efficiency without compromising an individual’s mobility needs.”

Commenting on the partnership, Paddy Cosgrave, CEO, Web summit said: “We’re delighted to partner up with a forward looking company like Audi for the Web Summit. The event is approaching really quickly and we’re happy to say that it looks like it’s going to be a fantastic event.”
