Minor Hurling Championship

Clara minor hurlers played Carrig/Riverstown in Carrig on Wed evening last in the minor championship. After the long bus trip to Carrig, the lads were slow to get going and conceded 1-03 in the early stages of the game but they rallied well and at half time Clara were up 2-12 to 1-05. Despite the slow start the team played some great hurling with our goalie Darren Fleming on top of his game coming back from injury, the backs were very stingy and the midfield and forwards were working very hard and showed some great teamwork. It was a very entertaining evening of hurling with Clara coming out on top on a scoreline of 3-19 to 1-11. This was a great effort from a very young team with seven of the team still playing U16’s. The Clara team was: Darren Fleming, Ryan Kelly, Martin Fleming, Johnny Hanamy, Dermot Doolan, Colm Doyle, Callium Egan, Stephen Buckley(1-9,0-3frees), Seamus O’Brien, Alan Gavin(0-6), Leon Egan(1-1), Adam Dolan, Mark Fallon(0-1), Carl Stewart and Mark Newman(1-1). Subs: David Falsey for D Doolan, Josh Fleming(0-1) for M Fallon, Ciaran Doyle for L Egan, J Kearney for R Kelly and Alex Roe for M Newman

Senior Football Championship

Clara played Ferbane on Saturday evening last in O’Connor Park and won on a score line of 2-14 to 0-10. The Clara team was: Alan Cronin, Paul Mitchell, David Ledwith, Darren Coughlan, Bob Mitchell(0-1), Lorcan Hiney, Richie Slammon, Scott Brady, Ross Brady, John O’Hara(0-1), Thomas Deehan(0-3, 0-2frees), Stephen Deehan, John Reynolds(1-2), Barry Cushen(0-3) and Graham Guilfoyle(0-4). Subs: Deasun Baggot foe S Deehan and Liam Monaghan(1-0) for J Reynolds. On an extra note it was great to see Kevin Meehan back on the panel and togged out today for the first time in 11 months after injury.

U12/U14/U16 HURLING:

Clara underage hurlers were to have a busy week this week playing Lusmagh in all 3 grades of championship hurling, however as the week passed we were handed 3 walkovers by Lusmagh for the 3 matches. This was regrettable as it was too late to organize challenge games and as a dual club it will be 4 weeks between hurling games, in the middle of the Summer, making it difficult for our dedicated coaches.

WEEKLY CLUB LOTTO

Lotto results 09/08/14 Numbers drawn were 9-15-18-27. There was no winner of the Jackpot. There were 2 match 3 winners. These were: James Rickard and Paddy Rushe. Next week’s draw is for €3,350 and takes place in The Mill at10pm on Saturday night. Tickets are available from committee members and in premises throughout the town priced at €1.50. All support greatly appreciated.
