U14 Hurling Cup

 

Clara defeated Tullamore on a score line of 3-7 to 2-5 in the U14 conditional rules cup on Friday evening last. This very small group of players as has been all year never gave up and kept hurling in a tough encounter with our neighbours. The Clara team was: Adam McCloskey, Ciaran Ennis, Stephen Falsey, Edward Cullen, Cormac Delaney, Cathal O’Meara, Conor Dolan, Patrick Phelan, Dean Larkin, Shane Gavin, Lorcan Cornally, Adam Carroll and Aodhan Moran. Scorers: Cathal O’Meara(0-7, 0-4frees) and Shane Gavin(3-0). Best wishes are extended to Dean Larkin who received a nasty knee injury during the match. Clara GAA would like to congratulate this small group of players who are improving all the time. We would also like to congratulate the team management of Peter Delaney, Patrick Phelan, Padraig O’Meara and Sean Nolan

 

U16 Football Championship

 

Clara played Rhode last Monday night in Clara and after an evenly fought contest ended up deserved winners on a score line of 5-10 to 2-7. The Clara team was: Wesley Johnson, Darryl O’Brien, Callum Egan, Josh Kearney, Kieran Hartnett, Adam Owens, Conor Egan, David Falsey(1-0), Thomas Dolan, Josh McCloskey, Mark Newman (1-1), Sean Tierney(1-5, 0-3frees), Josh Fleming (0-1), David Fleming(1-2) and Ciaran Doyle. Subs: Seamus O’Brien(0-1), Nathan Bracken, Chris Egan, Conor Monaghan(1-0), Gary Kelly, Cameron Monaghan, David Dunne, David Malone, Brandon Tobella and Eoin Cowen.

 

Golf Classic

Clara GAA held a very successful Golf Classic in Esker Hills last Friday evening and Saturday morning. The Prize winners were: Overall winner (GUI) – Paul Stewart, Sean Doolan and David Coffey. 2nd Place GUI – Brian Gavin, Deirdre Molly and Michael Mahon. Overall winner (Non GUI) – Keith Handy, Derek Handy and Michael Handy. 2nd Place (Non GUI) – Keir Mannerings, Michael Egan and Vinny Kelly. Front 9 (GUI) Paul Rabbitte, Tommy Scanlon and Hugh O’Brien. Back 9 (GUI) – Tommy Cushen, Regina Egan and Emer Molloy. Front 9 (Non GUI) – Cormac Flynn, Cormac Kinahan and Tom Deehan, Back 9 (Non GUI) – Mel Doyle, Joey Newman and Paul Newman. The 4 Nearest The Pins were won by: Joe Eivers, Michael Handy, Leila Dunne and David Coffey. The Men’s Longest Dive was won by John Kelly and the Women’s Longest Drive was won by Deirdre Molloy. Clara GAA club want to congratulate all the winners and sincerely thank all who participated in what was a very enjoyable day. It was great to see so many members and non-members of the club supporting us. Many thanks to all who sponsored holes and prizes, the chefs on the day who did a fine job on the BBQ, all the people who prepared the signs and were out early putting them up on the course. Thanks also to Esker Hills Golf Course for their hospitality and we want to compliment them on their well prepared course. Special thanks to the organising committee of Brian Gavin, Paul Stewart, John Naughton, Tom Naughton, John Buckley, Padraig O’Meara, Kevin Roe and Michael Mullen who put in hours of preparation to make sure the day was a success.

 

Clara GAA BBQ

Clara GAA club are hosting a Bar-B-Que on Saturday 2nd August in honour of the 1954 Junior Football Chsmpions and 1964 Senior Football Champions. It will be held in the GAA Grounds Kilcoursey at 9pm and tickets for the event cost €5

WEEKLY CLUB LOTTO

Lotto results 12/07/14 Numbers drawn were 13-14-21-27. There was no winner of the Jackpot. We had no match 3’s winners. The 3 lucky dip winners who receive €50 each were Conor Dolan, Brendan Monaghan and Niamh Mullen. Next week’s draw is for €2750 and takes place in Cowen’s at 10pm on Saturday night. Tickets are available from committee members and in premises throughout the town priced at €1.50. All support greatly appreciated.
