Under 8 Hurling

Clara U8 hurlers travelled over to Killeigh on Saturday last to participate in a 4 team blitz. In the first game, we dominated a strong St. Rynaghs team and were unfortunate not to go on to win as we conceded late scores which gave St. Rynaghs the draw. In the next two games Clara won both very comfortably beating Coolderry in the first game and Na Fianna in the third game. These lads are playing hurling the way it should be played, striking off both sides, blocking, hooking and being physical. All  the basics are being done correctly which will give them a great chance to play hurling at the highest level in the coming years. The Clara  panel was: Greg Byrne, Ryan Carroll, Martin Lee Coughlan, Jonah Devine, Liam Flynn, Scott Griffith, Aaron Kelly, Christian McKeown, Eoin Phelan, Ronan Touhey, Ben Melia, Dillon Wyer and Jimmy Sherlock. This is a fantastic group of honest young lads who are putting in a massive effort in training and are competing and winning against the traditionally stronger hurling clubs in Offaly. Once again, thanks to the guidance and the effort put into these lads by their mentors David Gavin, William Banjo Flynn, Joe Keyes and Ivan Melia.

Division 1 Football League

Clara played Rhode on last Tuesday night in Clara in the Division 1 Football League and won on a score line of 0-14 to 0-9. The Clara team was: Alan Cronin, Paul Mitchell, David Ledwith, Richie Slammon, Liam Monaghan, John Ledwith, Deasun Baggot(0-1), Scott Brady, Ross Brady(0-3), Paul Deehan, Thomas Deehan(0-7, 0-5frees), John Reynolds, Stephen Deehan(0-1), Kieran O’Meara(0-2) and Joey Deehan. Sub: Luke Kelly for P Deehan.

Golf Classic

Clara GAA Golf Classic will take place Friday 11th July.

WEEKLY CLUB LOTTO

Lotto results 07/06/14 Numbers drawn were 1-8-16-19. There was one winner of the Jackpot. This was Ronnie Minnock who wins the jackpot of €7,850. Congratulations from all at Clara GAA. We had 6 match 3’s who will receive €25 each. These were, Olive Flynn, Nanto Reynolds, Lauren Moran, Emma Johnston, Frank Kinnarney and Barry & Caolan Mannion. Next week’s draw is for €2,000 and takes place in Baggots at 10pm on Saturday night. Tickets are available from committee members and in premises throughout the town priced at €1.50. All support greatly appreciated.
