U14 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Na Fianna U14 Footballers had to settle for a draw in the Final Round of the League against DER Gaels last Saturday in Geashill on a scoreline of 3-14 to 5-08 in a game that the lead change hands many times throughout with the draw proving to be the fairest result. Both sides got off the mark with 2 early points apiece before Na Fianna built up a sizeable lead scoring 1-05 to DER’s 2 points over the next 20 mins with goal scored by Sean Beatty but this lead was wiped out in the final 10 mins of the half as DER struck for 3 goals as Na Fianna replied with 2 points which gave DER the lead at the break 3-05 to 1-09. Both sides added a point apiece early in the second half before Na Fianna got back in front when Craig Strong dispatched their second goal on 9 mins. Na Fianna then added 4 more points to DER’s 2 over the next 15 mins to increase their lead but again this was wiped out as DER got in for 2 more goals but not to be denied Na Fianna came back when Sean Beatty dispatched their 3rd goal with 2 mins left to salvage a draw and this is how it finished. Unfortunately the draw was not enough for Na Fianna to progress in the League and they will now move on to the Championship later in the summer.
