DIVISION 2 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Raheen Intermediate Footballers made it 5 wins out of 6 in the Div 2 League against Durrow last Friday evening in

Geashill with an exhibition in goalscoring on a scoreline of 6-10 to 2-11. Raheen opened the scoring with a point straight

from the throw in but just after the mid point of the half Durrow were pulling ahead having put over 5 points to

another 1 for Raheen. Then in a 4 min spell starting with just over 10 mins left Raheen turned the half on it’s head with

a 3 goal salvo all coming from high balls sent in by Richie Reynolds, the first punched in by John Crombie, the second

punched by Conor Dunne and the third tapped in by John Crombie. Durrow hit back with a goal of their own and both

sides added another 2 points apiece and so at the break Raheen led by 3-04 to 1-07. The first 5 mins of the second

half saw both sides increase their tally with 1-01 apiece. Durrow hit back with 2 points to leave just 1 in it before

Raheen struck for goal no 5 on 18 mins when John Crombie returned the first half favour as he turned provider for

Richie Reynolds to finish to the net and he added a point before Raheen completed their goal scoring rout in the 20

min as midfielder Mark Gorman made a run with ball through the middle into the square shirking a few tackles where

he found space to shoot past the keeper into the net. With the goal scoring completed Raheen used the final 10 mins

to bring their point scoring up to a respectable level as they raised the white flag 4 times to just 1 for Durrow and so

Raheen ran out 11 point winners.
