Offline Film Festival Birr Co.Offaly

One of the countrys most dynamic young film festivals kicks off its fourth edition this coming October. The OFFline Film Festival, based in Birr promises to be their biggest one yet with a programme chock-full of exciting new events as well as their hallmark screenings, competitions and workshops.

This year the Drive-In Cinema will create a unique retro atmosphere never before seen in the midlands of Ireland. Watch a classic movie outdoors with the stunning County Arms hotel as the backdrop to Jaws, the Big Lebowski and a host of other classics.

Filmmakers you can take part in several in-depth workshops overseen by some of the best and brightest in the Irish Film Industry. This includes a Prosthetics and Makeup workshop with a Halloween theme.

The newly added Shorts Audience Award will give you the chance to have your say! A selection of some of the best recent shorts from Ireland and around the world will compete for the top spot, chosen exclusively by the Offline audiences.

Once again, Irish and International Filmmakers will journey to Birr to undertake shooting and editing a short film in under 72 hours for our Short Filmmaking Competition. This event has grown in size and stature each year and Offline are pleased to facilitate it once more. The winning short of the filmmaking competition will make its way to the 2014 Galway Film Fleadh.

For the younger audience members there will be youth and school screenings, specifically selected for various young age groups.

There will also be a series of Q&A sessions from International Filmmakers which will cover many aspects of filmmaking techniques. Whether you are a budding novice or a hardened professional there will be something for you here.

All in all Offline 2013 is shaping up to be an exciting event for film lovers and filmmakers alike.
