JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL

Raheen Hurlers cruised into the Final of the Junior B Championship for the second year in a row with a comfortable win over Kilcormac / Killoughey in the Semi Final last Sunday morning in Killurin on a scoreline of 1-15 to 0-05 and now await the other semi final between Gracefield and Belmont to see who the opponents in the final will be. Unlike their previous group meeting when Raheen got off to a flying start this time round it was a nervous start by Raheen as K/K were first off the mark with 2 points inside the first 2 minutes and it was the 7th min before Raheen opened their account with a point from Niall Dempsey. Over the next 15 mins Raheen got going edging clear with 5 points in row before K/K got their next point from a free. Raheen added 2 more points before the end of the half and so a the break Raheen led 0-08 to 0-03. Raheen tagged on another 2 points early in the second half before the game clincher came in the 10th min with Raheen’s goal when a 65m free by Brian Corcoran was kept in by Paddy Arnold who passed it to Eana Direen in the square who then turned and blasted it into the net. There was no way back from here for K/K and Raheen wrapped it up in the last 20 mins with their final 4 points as K/K could only manage to reply with 2 consolation points.
