DIVISION 3 FOOTBALL LEAGUE – FINAL ROUND

Raheen Junior Footballers completed their Div 3 League campaign with a final round encounter against an inform Ballycomman side in Geashill last Tuesday week and it was Ballycomman who claimed the win on a scoreline of 2-18 to 0-11. Both sides got into it from the off  and it was Raheen who were edging it 4 points to 3 after 10 mins. Then midway through the half Ballycomman took the lead, a lead they would hold onto for the rest of the game, by knocking in their first goal when a shot was saved but knocked in on the rebound. The remainder of the half saw Ballycomman add to their lead with 4 points to Raheen’s 2 and so at the break Ballycomman led 1-07 to 0-06. Raheen cut the defecit to 2 with the first 2 points inside the first 10 mins of the second half.but this was wiped out as Ballycomman responded with the next 3 points. In the 14th min came the game clincher as Ballycomman struck for their second goal when a high ball into the square dropped just below the crossbar and and was knocked into the net by the in-running forward. This spurned Ballycomman into action as over the remaining 15 or 16 mins they pulled out of sight adding 7 points to 2. Raheen who already had their place in Div 3 secured for next year prior to this game will now turn their attention solely on the Championship
