BROTHER URBAN LEAGUE WEEK 3
Week 3 of the Br. Urban League began without the sun and heat of the first 2 weeks and the floodlights of Croke Park could have come in handy, but as always the weather failed to  dampen the enthusiasm of the kids and this reporter.

junior boys

Raheen v Erry
A cracking start to the game with Raheen through the drive of captain Conor Taylor forcing Erry keeper Brian Buckley into an early save. It was real drama then as Erry worked the ball upfield through Conor Doyle, Isaac Ryan and the impressive Ryan Handy. The ball seemed to stay in Raheens half as keeper Kiefer Kelly tried brilliantly at times to keep the Erry attack of James Cullen, Calvin McCormack and Kevin o’Keefe at bay. Attack after attack was twarted by the man marking backline of Oisin o’Meara, Evan Cronin and Cian Molloy. However it was not to be Raheens night as Erry won out on a scoreline of 3-5 to 0-2.
The Town v The Boers
The Town had obviously had their weetabix this morning and raced into a 4-0 to no score lead within the first 5 mins with scores from Ronan Brophil, Jack Devine, Kevin Minnock and Christian McKeon. Many observers may have felt this was all over but Tadgh Maher and Dylan Corrigan had other ideas and both combined for The Boers opening score, A goal from Liam Flynn on halftime game them hope. The second half was all the Boers in attack and was it not for Jamie Regan and Neil Gaffey making crucial blocks they would have scored more but despite Kelyn Conroy and Nathan Flattery scoring late on The Town held on to win by 4-0 to 2-4. Great game.
The Green v Bogtown
James McKenna in goal for Bogtown kept The Green attack scoreless for the first 5 mins due to many great saves but The Greens potent attack of Lewis Kavanagh and Noah Lowry meant they got on top. Bogtowns Ryan Carroll and Callum Gorman played their part in defense but a late point from Greg Byrne meant that The Green stretched their lead at the break. The second half proved to be defensive with The Green playing keep ball, a point from Bogtowns James Kelly made The Green nervous but time ran out and a final score of The Green 3-2 to Bogtown 0-1.
girls
woodfield v aughamore
Aughamores defense of Ellie Cronin and Niamh Phelan were ably supported by Niamh Rooney in goal as Woodfields attack of Hannah Simpson, Ava Dunne, Robyn Bracken and Aoife Dalton threatened to run away with the game. The pressure from the sideline exerted by enthusiastic grandparents and mentors meant ref Martin McKeown had to change his whistle at halftime. The second half began with all out attack and Hannah Maher broke the deadlock with a superb team goal. Aughamore tried to get back into the game with Melissa Delaney and Clodagh Gowran working hard. However a counter attack from Woodfield began with Abbie Fagan feeding the ball to Sarah Reynolds who sealed the game with a great finish. Final Score: Woodfield 2-0 Aughamore 0-0.
kilbride v kilcoursey
Kilbride began the stronger and scored through Mary Nevin Daly despite great defensive work from Kilcourseys Dara Hughes and Jemma Bracken. Kilcoursey captain Caragh Sheridan grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and drove her team forward scoring 2 great goals to send her team in 3-1 to 2-0 up the break. The second half proved to be a tough ask for Kilbride despite the great defense of Rebecca Touhey and Rebecca Larkin with Kilcourseys Hannah Cronin getting a great point followed by Niamh McKeons well taken goal. Kilcourseys Caoimhe O’Meara and Kilbrides Rachael Leech both performed brilliantly.  Final Score: Kilbride 2-0 Kilcoursey 8-4
senior boys

erry v raheen
Raheen will be feeling very confident after this strong team performance against a much fancied Erry team led by last years player of the tournament Cormac Delaney. Raheen were the much sharper outfit with Adam McCloskey again proving to be the key man in midfield winning ball and passing into the forward line of Josh Gifford and Kai Dunne. Adam Grennan and the returning Blake Ryan tried to keep Raheen at bay but went in 3-1 to 0-0 down at the break. The halftime team talk favoured Erry who emerged with their ears ringing and scored 1-1 in the first minute but Raheen gathered themselves and added 2 more goals before  Erry junior James Cullen added a super point from play which proved to be just a consolation point. Final Score: Erry 1-2 Raheen 5-1
the town v the boers
If this game was played in Croke Park it wouldnt have been out of place with scores of the very highest calibre and defending akin to Tyrones heyday. Thomas Devine drove his team on while Eoin Gavin was proving impossible to stop. The lead changed hands several times and every player fought for all the ball. Dion Conroy scored a brilliant free from centre field while Barry Egan replied with a similar score. The final word however was left to Alex Egan who scored a sensational goal for the Boers. Final Score: The Town 3-3 The Boers 5-2
the green v bogtown
The Green had Callum Dunne returning and helped to shore up the defense with Marcus Dalton impressing in a halfback role. Bogtowns Wayne Brennan scored 2 great points off his weaker foot to send his team into a lead but The Greens Cody Almeida pointed in reply while Luke Bracken in a defensive role continued to impress. The second half proved to be a bridge too far for The Green who were missing a couple of players and Bogtown drove on with scores through Calvin Handy and Josh Cushen and finished the stronger despite the defensive efforts of Adam Kelly and junior players Greg Byrne and Lewis Kavanagh.  Final Score: The Green 1-4 Bogtown 3-6

Thats week 3 done and dusted and we move on with this year already proving to be the most competitive year in the 20 year history.
Thanks for all the support from parents and kids.
