Clara GAA Club Notes June 10th 2013
UNDERAGE HURLING
Training continues every Thurs evening in Pairc Phroinsias, for U6/U8/U10/U12 at 6.30 – 7.30 and 6.15 – 7.30 for U14 hurling training. We would like to thank the minors who are helping with the U6’s especially Liam Doyle who is completing his Gaisce course and has been a great help with the indoor and outdoor training of this group.
It has been a busy couple of weeks with the U10’s travelling to Pairc Brendain in Birr last week to play a very enjoyable hurling blitz. They divided their squads in two and every player got to play 3 games. The U12 hurlers have played Tullamore in Clara under the Go Games rules which consists of two 11 aside games and full participation. They also played in Ballinamere last Sunday morning with a visiting team up from Kilkenny and the hosts Ballinamere.
Our U14 hurlers played Brosna Gaels in Clara last Friday in the 1st round of the Championship on a very well prepared pitch for hurling and Clara had a good win with a great team effort and scored some fine scores with 8 players getting on the score sheet. The U14’s also played Shamrocks in a challenge game to commemorate the opening of the Donal O’Connin ball wall on Sunday 2nd June. We would like to thank Shamrocks for travelling and it was only befitting as Donal had some mighty battles against Rahan and Shamrocks. U14 panel Gary Kelly, Mark Doorley, Thomas Guinan, Nathan Bracken, Conor Egan, Cathal O’Meara, Daryl O’Brien, Keiran Hartnett, Thomas Dolan, Mark Newman, Sean Fleming, Cameron Monaghan, Ruairi Dunne, Dean Larkin, Adam Owens and Ciaran Doyle.
