LOTTO

The numbers drawn in the Lotto draw which took place on Monday 20th May were 11 14 16 19. There was no Jackpot winner of €14,000 and 2 Match 3 Winners [Pat Feery C/O Tom Feery; Martina Conroy C/O Killeigh P/O] [€100 Each]. Next week’s draw will take place in Doyle’s, Killeigh on TUESDAY 04 June .

DIVISION 2 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Raheen Intermediate Footballers slumped to their third defeat of the Div 2 League campaign when they came out on the wrong side of a 2-06 to 0-09 scoreline against Shannonbridge last Tuesday week in Geashill. Raheen started brightly and by the midpoint of the half had opened up a lead of 5 points to 2 but were knocked back on 20 mins when Shannonbridge drew level by scoring their first goal when a shot in from the wing had a wicked spin on it as it dipped into the top corner of the net. Both sides added a point apiece before Shannonbridge got in to score their second goal on the stroke of half time when a free out on the sideline was sent into the square  where in a scramble it was saved about 3 times beore being tapped into the net at the 4th attempt. This gave Shannonbridge the lead at the break 2-03 to 0-06. In the second half both sides added juts 3 more points apiece. Raheen did have about 3-4 good goalscoiring chances but could not get the finishing touch on them.

JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Raheen Hurlers 2013 Junior B Championship campaign began with a defeat to Kinnitty in Kinnitty last Thursday evening on a scoreline of 2-08 to 2-07. Raheen got into it from the off and were 2 points up inside the opening minute. Kinnitty then got off the mark with their first 2 points to draw level before they took the lead in the 11th min with their first goal. Raheen responded with the next 2 points before registering their first goal in the 20th minute when Paddy Rigney made a run down the wing before laying it off to Ciaran Direen on the edge of the square who rounded the keeper and blasted it into the net.  Both sides added a point apiece before Raheen struck for their second goal on the stroke of halftime when Paddy Rigney won a Kinnitty puck out in midfield before taking off on a solo run through the middle into the square before flicking the ball past the keeper to the net. This left Raheen leading at the break by 2-05 to 1-03. Kinnitty had their second goal on board after 5 mins of the second half when a free in midfield went directly into the top corner of the net. The next 15 mins saw both sides add 2 points apiece. Then in the final 10 mins Then in the final 10 mins Raheen conceeded 3 harsh frees which Kinnity sent over to first draw before taking the lead with the final point 3 mins from the end and they withstood the Raheen surge at the end to hold out for the win.

DIVISION 2 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Raheen Intermediate Footballers got their Div 2 league campaign back on track with a good win over Cappincur on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-07 last Saturday evening which was played in Geashill after the pitch in Cappincur was deemed unplayable just before throw in. Raheen started well as they opened up a lead of 4 points to 1 after 10 mins. Then on 12 mins a quick break upfield saw the ball worked through 6-7 players with John Crombie getting the final pass to blast the ball in the net for Raheen’s first goal. The remainder of the half saw Cappincur get into it scoring 3 points to Raheen’s 1 and so at the break Raheen led by 1-05 to 0-04.  Raheen hit the ground running at the start of the second half adding 2 points before before registering their second goal on 3 mins when Richie Reynolds shot was tapped into the net by Damien Arnold. Cappincur replied with a pointed free a few mins later and this is how it remained until the last 10 mins when Raheen wrapped it up with their final 3 points to Cappincur’s 2.

DIVISION 3 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Raheen Junior suffered their second defeat of the Div 3 League when they came out on the wrong side of a 2-10 to 0-09 scoreline against Ferbane last Sunday morning in Geashill. Ferbane opened the scoring with their first goal on 3 mins. The next 15 mins saw Raheen get off the mark as both sides scored 2 points apiece. Then in the final 10 mins of the half Ferbane pulled clear putting over 4 points in a row to go in at the break leading 1-06 to 0-02. Both sides added a point apiece early in the second half before Ferbane sealed the win as they struck their second goal on 5 mins to open up a 10 point lead. The remainder of the game saw Raheen outscore Ferbane by 6 points to 3 and were unlucky not to convert any of at least 3 good goal scoring chances which would have been necessary to claw back the defecit.

Raheen Hurlers resume their Div 3 League campaign when take on Seir Kieran in Geashill this Thursday (30th May) @ 7:30pm. All Support would be appreciated.

 

DIVISION 2 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Raheen Intermediate Footballers continue their Div 2 League campaign against Gracefield in Geashill this Sunday (02nd June) @ 12 Noon. All support would be appreciated.

DIVISION 3 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Raheen Junior Footballers continue their Div 3 League campaign next Monday (03rd June) @ 4pm in Geashill when they take on Ballycumber. All Support would be appreciated.

 

PAT DIREEN MEMORIAL MATCH

A Memorial Hurling Challenge match has been organised between Raheen and Gracefield for this Sunday (02nd June) @ 3pm in Geashill in memory of our Former Player, Club Officer and Referee Pat Direen who passed away in January 2011. Donations can be made on the day with all the proceeds going towards the Irish Heart Foundation and the Offaly / Laois Hospice. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the Caman Inn, Cloneygowan. We would encourage as many people as possible to come along on the day to support this worthwhile cause.
