Na Fianna G.A.A Club Notes

U14 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Na Fianna U14 Footballers gained their first win of the year against Tullamore last Tuesday week in the final round of the the group stage of the Spring League in a goal feast of an encounter on a scoreline of 7-05 to 3-10 which sees Na Fianna claim 3rd spot in the group but unfortunately it does not see Na Fianna make it through to the knockout stage with only the group winners progressing. Both sides kept it tight in the early stage of the first half when after 20 mins Na Fianna had opened with 3 points to Tullamore’s 1. The remainder of the half saw Na Fianna edge clear as they cracked in the first 2 goals from Reese Seery and Ryan Kinahan with just a single point reply from Tullamore which gave Na Fianna what looked a comfortable lead of 2-03 to 0-02 at the break. Tullamore came out in the second half much improved and tagged on 1-05 without reply to go in front by the mid point of the half. Kaelyn Thompson steadied the ship for Na Fianna as he got in to score 2-01 to a single goal reply from Tullamore over the next 5 mins to restore Na Fianna’s lead. Then with 10 mins left Na Fianna secured it when Conor Langton blasted a 20m free to the net and this was followed immediately by another goal excellantly finished by sub Lee Mulpeter. Tullamore were not giving up and came back to score 1-03 without reply but Na Fianna wrapped it up with their final point followed in stoppage time by their 7th goal and second of the game from Conor Langton.
