Minor Football Championship

Clara qualified to meet Ferbane/Belmont in this year’s minor football semi final after a great victory over St. Broughans on a score line of 2-10 to 1-11. Played on an excellent prepared Killeigh pitch last Saturday evening. Playing against a strong wind in the first half we were behind 0-9 to 0-3 at half time. Broughans scored a goal on the resumption and we found ourselves behind by 10 points with 11 minutes gone in the 2nd half, but a great last 20 mins saw us score 2-7 and we secured a semi final spot. Clara Team: Gavin Fleming, Gavin Carroll, Colin Gavin, Evan O’Meara, Martin Fleming, Carl Stewart, Alan Gavin(0-1), William Fleming, Callum Stewart (0-3), Scott Delaney, Adam Scanlon(0-5), Evan Dignam, Luke Dignam, Luke Kelly(2-1) and Sam Rickard(Capt). Division 1 Football League

Clara qualified for the final of this year’s league on Sunday last with a 1-10 to 1-7 win over Tullamore. The Clara team was: Kevin Meehan, Darren Kelly, Gary Collins, Paul Mitchell, Deasun Baggot, John Ledwith(1-0), John Flattery, Scott Brady(0-2), Ross Brady, Lorcan Hiney(0-1), Alan Cronin, John O’Hara, Thomas Deehan(0-3,0-1Free), Stephen Deehan and John Reynolds(0-2). Subs: Barry Cushen for T Deehan, Enda Dunne for D Kelly, Luke Kelly for A Cronin and Luke Mitchell for J O’Hara.

CLARA/SHAMROCKS HURLING FESTIVAL

Next Sunday morning Sept 23rd, Clara will host Shamrocks in U8, U10, U12 and U14 hurling games at Clara GAA’s new facilities in Kilcoursey, Clara. The games will start at 11.30am sharp with the two U8 games on the near field. The two U10 teams will play on the new field and the U12’s will play on the back Chapel Hill field leaving the U14’s to play on the floodlit field. This will be the 2nd year of an annual event with last years games a great spectacle and we would like to thank all the mentors from the 8 underage teams for all their hard work as the 2012 season comes to an end.

THE WEDDING OF THE YEAR
A great night was had on Saturday night last when Alan Cronin and Tanya Handy tied the knot in the Clara GAA Centre. The club would like to thank Frances Doyle and Chris Murphy along with all the cast for providing a memorable night. We would also like to thank The Mill for providing the food and Doc’s Bar. We would like to thank the Ladies Committee for all their hard work over the last week and the Clara GAA. We would also like to thank Margaret Naughton for all her assistance with the night.

Weekly Club Lotto

Weekly Lotto 05/09/2012 -There was no winner of the weekly club Lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 3-7-25-26. There were 3 match 3 winners. They were Jimmy Quinlan, Wesley & Aoife and Mark Doorley. Next weeks lotto takes place in Carey’s and the Jackpot is €3950. Thanks to all who support our lotto and thanks to all our ticket sellers.
