NA FIANNA GAA CLUB NOTES 22 MAY 2012

U14 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna U14 Footballers suffered their second defeat of the Championship when they went down to Clara in Clara last Fridayevening on a scoreline of 4-15 to 1-09. The game was slow to get going and after 20 mins Clara led by just 3 pts to 1. Clara put over another 4 points to Na Fianna’s 2 to edge further ahead and then just on the stroke of half time Clara struck for their first goal and so at the break Clara led by 1-07 to 0-03. Any hope of a comeback by Na Fianna was quashed inside the first 10 mins of the second half as Clara added 3-05 to Na Fianna’s 1 point to effectively seal the win.Na Fianna to their credit did not give up and  over the next 15 mins cut the deficit marginally, first with 2 points followed by their goal with just under 10 mins remaining when Stephen Pierce was put through just outside the square and he ran in and fired the ball past the keeper to the top corner of the net. Unfortunately this would be as close as Na Fianna would get and over remaining minutes both sides completed the scoring with a further 3 points apiece.

NA FIANNA: Shane Gorry, Sam Byrne, Adam Kelly, Peter Walsh, Reece Seery, Cathal Curran (0-02), Ray Daly, John Ridgeway, David Buckley (0-02), Kaelyn Thompson, Colin Keogh, Conor O’Meara (0-01), Jamie Ballisty, Ian Buckley (0-02), Stephen Pierce (1-02).

SUBS: Eoin Corcoran (for Reece Seery), Aaron McKenna (for Kaelyn Thompson), C J Reilly (for Conor O’Meara)
