Raheen GAA Club notes 20th March

LOTTO
The numbers drawn in Monday [12th March 2012] night’s Lotto were 10 15 19 27. There was no Jackpot Winner of €6,000 and 4 Match 3 Winners[PJ & Eoin Corcoran C/O PJ Corcoran; Andy Brophy C/O Paul O’Rourke; Aggie Berry C/O Killeigh P/O; Colm Duffy C/ Joe Cunningham] [€50 Each]. Next week’s draw will take place in Hamilton’s, Geashill on Monday 26th March 2012.

DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Raheen Intermediate Footballers put in a much improved performance but were unlucky to suffer another defeat in their Div 1 League encounter against Tullamore in O’Brien Pk, Tullamore last Friday evening on a scoreline of 2-08 to 2-06. Midway through the first half both sides had got off the mark with 3 points apiece. Then Raheen were awarded a penalty when Richie Reynolds was brought down in the area which was dispatched to the net for the opening goal by Paddy Rigney.Raheen added 2 more points to Tullamore’s 1 before the break and so Raheen led at half time 1-05 to 0-04. In the first 20 mins of the second half Tullamore turned the momentum in their favour as they scored 1-03 without reply to go back in front. Both sides then added a point apiece before Tullamore sealed the win with by scoring their second goal in the last min. Then in stoppage time Raheen were awarded another penalty for a pickup in the box and again Paddy Rigney fired his shot to the net but the final whistle came straight from the kickout.

DIVISION 4 FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Raheen Junior Footballers Div 4 League game against Doon which was to be played last Monday was postponed to an as yet unconfirmed date due to a fixtures clash.

DONAL BOLTON MEMORIAL 7 A SIDE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
The inaugural Donal Bolton Memorial 7 a Side Football Tournament will take place on Easter Monday (09th April) in the GAA Field, Geashill beginning at 12 Noon. The tournament has been set up by the Bolton Family and Raheen GAA to honour the memory of Donal Bolton who represented the club in both football and hurling and who died tragically 2 years ago. All Raheen players and playing members (Both Footballers and Hurlers) are urged to come along and take part in what will be a fun and enjoyable tournament with plenty of craic for all involved. Best of Luck to all involved.

MEMBERSHIP
Members are asked to renew their membership as soon as possible. This year there are 2 membership options. Option 1 includes entry in our weekly club lotto draw and Subscriptions are Playing Members €120, Students/ OAP’s & Non Playing Members €110. Option 2 is the same as previous years and Subscriptions are Playing Members €30, Students/ OAP’s €15 & Non Playing Members €20. Payments can be given to Membership Officers Shane Carroll, Padraig Direen or Craig O’Halloran. New members are very welcome.
