G.A.A CLUB NOTES

LOTTO
The numbers drawn in Monday [30th Jan 2012] night’s Lotto were 14 15 18 19. There was no Jackpot Winner of €4,800 and 1 Match 3 Winners [Aggie Berry C/O Killeigh P/O] [€200 Each]. Next draw will take place in Hamilton’s, Geashill on Monday 13th Feb 2012.
DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Raheen Intermediate Footballers got the 2012 playing campaign underway last Friday evening as they took on Ferbane in Geashill in Round 1 of the Div 1 Football League and it was Ferbane who claimed the win on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-07 but were pushed all the way in a game played from end to end throughout. Raheen were first off the mark with the opening 2 points before Ferbane got going and near the end of the half Ferbane had built up a lead 6 points to 3 but Raheen ended the half as Liam Gorman put over 2 frees to go in at the break trailing by the minimum 0-06 to 0-05. The opening 10 mins of the second half proved to be the turning point as Ferbane pulled clear as they registered 1-03 to Raheen’s single point. With 10 mins to go Raheen gave themselves hope of a comeback when Keith Quinns shot from over 30m out was blocked down by the keeper and Liam Gorman was on hand to palm the ball into the net. This was followed immediately by a point from Richie Reynolds but this proved to be Raheen’s final score and Ferbane closed out the game with 3 more points to seal the win.

DIVISION 3 HURLING LEAGUE
Raheen Hurlers get their playing campaign underway for 2012 this Sunday morning (12 Feb) at 11:30am as they travel to take on Coolderry in Coolderry in Round 1 of the Div 3 Hurling League. Best of Luck to players and management. All support would be appreciated.
CLUB FUNDRAISER
Raheen GAA Club are organising a Fundraising Buster Night at the Dogs in Mullingar Greyhound Stadium on Saturday 18th Feb 2012. Tickets costing €10 each are now on sale from any Committee Member or other Club Members. The ticket entitles admission on the night with racecard and has a unique 6 number combination with the holder of the ticket that matches the 6 dog result of the Buster Race on the night winning €500 but the ticket holder does not need to present on the night to claim the prize. There will also be buses going to Mullingar from both Cloneygowan and Geashill on the evening and returning home shortly after the last race for a nominal charge of €5. Anybody interested in availing of the bus please give your name to club secretary Eddie Kaye (Phone 086 0757679). Please try and support.
MEMBERSHIP
Members are asked to renew their membership as soon as possible but all membership must be paid by the end of January 2012. This year there are 2 membership options. Option 1 includes entry in our weekly club lotto draw and Subscriptions are Playing Members €120, Students/ OAP’s & Non Playing Members €110. Option 2 is the same as previous years and Subscriptions are Playing Members €30, Students/ OAP’s €15 & Non Playing Members €20. Payments can be given to Membership Officers Shane Carroll, Padraig Direen or Craig O’Halloran. New members are very welcome.
