Kilcormac Meals on Wheels

Kilcormac Meals on Wheels are in motion to commence a vital service to the public in the Kilcormac area. Cllr. Leahy who is spear heading the project states that “over the last few months Kilcormac Meals of Wheels committee have been working away in the background securing the necessary resources to provide a safe and healthy meal for the elderly in the area. We have six members of our voluntary committee certified under HACCP Food & Safety  and Food & Hygiene and have secured the use of St. Joseph Community Centre kitchen which is in pristine conditions with all the necessary equipment”. Cllr Leahy also expressed his gratitude to local businesses that have agreed to supply vegetables and meat at a subsidised rate and to the voluntaries who will deliver the meals. The committee envisages supplying meals on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 12.30pm – 1pm. The Kilcormac Meals on Wheels are opening up their service to all areas in close proximity to Kilcormac such a Killoughey, Broughal, Rath and Ballyboy. Manager of St. Joseph Community Centre Eva O Donoghue will manage and coordinate proceeding on a weekly basis. Any elderly person who wants to avail of the service is encouraged to phone the Community Centre 057 91 35455 for additional information. The committee looks forward to commencing the service on Monday 6th February.
