Hypnotherapy is well known as the world’s best method of giving up smoking, and as a tremendous aid to weight-loss, but it has many other positive uses too. Combined with Psychotherapy, it can address issues that really hold people back in life. Stress, Nervousness, Shyness, Phobias and a raft of other problems can be helped.

John Prendergast (MICHP) has now opened his dedicated local clinic in Tullamore to serve the needs of the Midlands. With training and qualifications in Hypntherapy and Psychotherapy, John is
one of a small number of Hypno-Psychotherapists rather than simple hypnotists.

Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation which allows you to focus on your goals in a way not possible in normal consciousness. It’s a simple, completely natural state, which uses no drugs, and because it uses relaxation as its catalyst, it’s a pleasant form of therapy.

With Hypnotherapy now available via the public health systems of the UK and Australia, it is swiftly being seen just how many uses this form of therapy has for helping people on a day to day basis. Harvard Medical School published startling results showing that Hypnotherapy can even speed up the healing rate of a fractured ankle:
“Six weeks after an ankle fracture, those in the hypnosis group showed the equivalent of eight and a
half weeks of healing.”

Since Steve Collins rattled Chris Eubanks with the use of Hypnotherapy in boxing, many Irish  people have known of its use in sports. Even back in the 1950’s, when the Soviet team competed in the Melbourne Olympics they brought ten Hypnotherapists with them. With swifter healing, the use of imagery to improve your game, and the ability to overcome tournament nerves, many professional and amateur sports people seeking a better performance now go to Hypnotherapists to help them.

As a trained Hypno-Psychoanalyst, John is trained to help people overcome the emotional effects of traumas such as Child Abuse, Traumatic Stress, and other such difficulties, as well as the more
usual applications of hypnotherapy.

By taking the time to work with each individual, John Prendergast can provide a personalised and professional solution for their needs. Each individual person and situation is different and each solution should be constructed on an equally individual bases working with the client to find the best way of assisting them. One size does not fit all!

When John was asked what was best about being a therapist, it was an easy one to answer:
“There’s nothing in the world like the feeling you get when you see someone you’ve helped enjoying life in a way they couldn’t do before hand”.

John provides a one day a week Dublin City Centre clinic and is based in his Tullamore Clinic the rest of the week, from which he also runs his Workplace Nationwide Stress Management Service.
