Tullamore Housing Project shortlisted for prestigious award

Today the Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) announced that 16 housing projects have been shortlisted for the prestigious Allianz Community Housing Awards 2011. Included in the shortlist is Tullamore Housing Association which has developed accommodation forming part of a close knit complex of emergency housing and shared voluntary community centre facilities. The development has created safe and secure housing at a very low cost and has enhanced the vibrancy of what was once a back lane to Clontarf Road.

The aim of the Community Housing Awards is to encourage, recognize and reward excellence in the provision of social housing and showcase how innovative design and management can create a positive impact on the lives of tenants and the wider community.

This year over 30 entries were received which are of an exceptionally high standard across eight categories including housing for older people, regeneration, housing for people with disabilities, collaboration initiatives, Traveller projects, family housing, homeless projects and innovative finance solutions. The shortlisted finalists will be judged by an expert panel on which there are representatives from Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland, ICSH, Dublin Institute of Technology and Allianz (sponsors of the awards).
The category winners and overall winner will be announced and presented with their awards at a gala dinner held at the ICSH National Social Housing Conference due to be held in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill on 28th September.
