The numbers drawn in Monday [25th July] night’s Lotto were  03 04 19 27. There was no Jackpot winner of €5,600 and 5 Match 3 Winners [Carmel Kelly C/O Dermot Guinan; Nicola Feery C/o Tullamore Hardware; Pat Carthy C/O Eddie Kaye; Suzanne O’Rourke C/O Mick O’Rourke; Breege Lynam C/O Fergie Byrne] [€40 Each].  Next weeks draw will take place in Direen’s, Cloneygowan on Monday 08 August .

JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Raheen Junior Footballers got their Junior B Championship campaign right back on track by beating group leaders Ferbane therby gaining their first win in their penultimate match of the group stage last Monday week in Ferbane on a scoreline of 2-06 to 0-07. The first half was a tight affair and at half time Raheen were just shading it 0-04 to 0-03 thanks to points from Darren Monagher (2), Eoghan Bolton and Paddy Arnold. In the second half Ferbane went in front by scoring 4 points to which Raheen replied with another 2 points from Darren Monagher and Garrett Garry. Then in the final 10 minutes  Raheen were rewarded for their persistence when first centre back Ciaran Coughlan blasted in the first goal to put Raheen back in front by 2 points and this was followed in the last few minutes by wing back Paddy Arnold getting through to fire in the second goal which sealed the win. This result moves Raheen up to third place in the group going into their final group match against Rhode.

JUNIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Raheen Hurlers lost out to neighbours Killeigh in their Junior Championship meeting last Friday evening in Killeigh on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-08. In the first half the sides traded points and with 5 minutes remaining Killeigh had edged ahead by 4 points to 3 points. Then Raheen struck for their goal when Paddy Rigney’s shot out on the sideline was dropped by the keeper on the line and Paddy Arnold was on hand to flick the ball to the net. This gave Raheen the lead at the break 1-03 to 0-04. Thje early stages of the second half saw Killeigh shoot over 5 points to which Raheen replied with 2 points from Paddy Arnold and Michael James Pierce which put Kileeigh back in front by a single point. The turning point of the game came midway through the half when Killeigh dispatched their goal with a low shot from the edge of the box. The remainder of the game saw both sides tag on another 3 points apiece with the Raheen scores from Ciaran Direen, Jason Hgassett and Tony O’Toole and so Killeigh held on to claim the win.

INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Raheen Intermediate Footballers take on Kilclonfert this Friday Evening (05 Aug) in Walsh Island at 7:30pm in the penultimate game of the group stage in the Intermediate Championship. All support would be appreciated.

JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Raheen Junior Footballers will be looking for the win to secure a Quarter Final spot as they take on Rhode in Geashill this Sunday morning (07 Aug) @ 12 noon in their final game of the group stage in their Junior B Championship campaign. All support would be appreciated.

SOCIAL INITIATIVE

Raheen GAA Social Initiative Group’s Third Outing takes place on Monday 29 Aug 2011 with a trip to Athlone including a cruise on the River Shannon followed by Lunch in the Prince of Wales Hotel. Coach transport will be provided with a charge of €25 applying. The outing is open to all members of the community (young and old) in the catchment area of Raheen GAA And also neighbouring clubs.
