INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Raheen Intermediate Footballers were made battle all the way before eventually seeing off the challenge of last year’s Junior Champions Clonmore Harps in their Intermediate Championship encounter last Sunday morning in Clonbullogue on a scoreline of 0-08 to 0-05. In the first half both defences proved supreme with it taking until the 23rd minute for Raheen to open the scoring with the first point and by half time the sides were level at just 2 points apiece. Clonmore Harps went in front early in the second half and by midway through the half they had opened up a 2 point advantage. At this stage a shock result appeared to be on the cards but Raheen showed their greater experience and fitness at this level as they put over 5 points without reply in the final 10 minutes to seal the win and claim the points.
