JUNIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Raheen Hurlers began their second season in the Junior Hurling Championship grade last Sunday morning by travelling all the way to Shinrone to take on Shinrone in their first round encounter but Raheen were missing at least half a dozen good players and this took it’s toll as Shinrone claimed a comfortable win on a scoreline of 6-12 to 1-06. . The damage was done in the first half as Shinrone ran through at will and by half time they had built up a lead of 5-07 to 0-01, the only Raheen score coming from a 65 put over by Jason Hassett. Raheen put in a much improved performance in the second half matching their opponents all the way as both sides registerd 1-05 apiece. Raheen’s goal came from a penalty awarded when Richie Reynolds was brought down in the box and dispatched excellantly by Jason Hassett . The points for Raheen were put over by Jason Hassett, Ciaran Direen (2) , Richie Reynolds and Paddy Arnold.

JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Raheen Junior Footballers got their Junior B Championship campaign up and running last Wednesday evening against Erin Rovers in Pullough but unfortunately it was Erin Rovers who claimed the win on a scoreline of 2-08 to 1-06. In a tight first half there was little to separate the sides and they went in at the break level 0-04 apiece with the Raheen scores from Liam Gorman, Darren Monagher (2) & Eoghan Bolton.Midway through the second half Erin Rovers had just edged ahead having scored 1-03 to Raheen’s 1-02, the Raheen goal coming from Jimmy Coughlan who fisted a dropping ball from Eoghan Bolton’s to the net.The turning point of the game came in the 23rd min when Erin Rovers were awarded a penalty which they dispatched to the net to go 4 points up and they sealed the win 5 mins later with their final point.
