Na Fianna GAA Football Club Notes 19th July

U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Na Fianna U16 Footballers championship game against St Broughans was not able to go ahead last Monday week as no ref turned up to take charge and will be re-fixed for another date.

MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Na Fianna Minor Footballers cruised to an easy win as they totally outclassed a very poor Clara side in their Championship encounter in Clara last Wednesday evening on a scoreline of 4-15 to 0-03. The first half was completely one way traffic and by half time Na Fianna had raced into a lead of 2-08 to no score with the goals coming first in the 6th minute when David Jordan won a kickout and sent it into Jack Keogh on the edge of the square who laid it off to Jason Darby to blast it to the net, the second goal coming in the 18th min from a penalty when Ben Ridgeway was brought down by the keeper and coolly dispatched to the net by Dean Cahill. Clara did manage to get off the mark with 2 points early in the second half but Na Fianna just increased their lead firstly with 6 points before dispatching their 3rd goal midway through the half when Ronan Crombie sent in the ball from the wing to Gary Martin who turned and shot low to net. Both sides then added another point before Jack Keogh was rewarded for his hard work when he fired in Na Fianna’s 4th goal in the final minute to wrap up the win.
