All underage hurling training continues every Thurs at 6.20pm to 7.30 in Pairc Phroinsias, Kilcoursey

All players are asked to attend on time and bring hurl/helmet/shinguards. Hurls and helmets will be available for sale from Orla Dolan before training.

Last week was a busy week with U10, U12, U14 and U16 hurlers all playing matches. The U10’s played CRC Gaels last Thurs and after a great game CRC won by 3-1 to 2-1. This was a very skilfull game and well done to Paul Rabbette, Dessie Dolan, Clare Moran and Kevin Roe who had the team well prepared.

The U12’s played Na Fianna on Sunday morn on the new pitch which is ideal for hurling and after a close game Clara edged it with a late goal. Both teams played some lovely hurling and with the pitch in perfect condition ground hurling was at a premium.

The U14’s played Brosna Gaels on Fri night in Clara and Brosna Gaels started with 2 quick goals. However, the Clara lads settled in well and 2 goals from Jonathon Hanamy just before half time gave them a cushion and they were able to push on in the 2nd half and win. Well done to coaches Pat Kelly and James O’Brien who have the team well drilled.

The U16 hurlers were down to play Edenderry in the 1st round of their championship but Edenderry withdrew at the last minute. All was not lost as we got to play a well prepared and skillful Seir Kierans in a challenge in Clareen. This was a very worthwhile game and even though Clareen won by 10 pts, Clara can take a lot of positives from this game.

Last but not least St. Francis Boys NS had a good win against Rahan/Mucklagh NS last Thurs in Rahan. The Clara school will play Eoin Pol next Friday in the final game of the league section and it is a must win game for Clara if they are to qualify for the Co. Final which is fixed for O’Connor Park on Wed. 25th May. Best of luck to the lads and their coaches, Mr. Ward, Mel Doyle and Jimmy Hughes
