U12 FOOTBALL

U12 Football- Clara defeated Na Fianna last Monday 2nd August in the U12 football championship on a score line of 4-15 to 1-8. Early goals in the first half and at the start of the second half helped Clara on the way win. All panel members played in the game, which was Ruairi Cushen, Daryl O Brien, Mark Newman, Conor Egan, David Falsey (capt) , Ciaran Doyle, Seamus O Brien, Callum Egan, David Fleming, Josh Fleming, Ciaran Hartnett, Wesley Johnston, Josh Mc Closkey, Conor Murray, Ger Hackett, Thomas Dolan, Mark Doorley, Sean Fleming.

U10 FOOTBALL
Under 10 Football-The Clara under 10 Football Team took part in a 4 team football blitz in O’Brien Park, Tullamore on Saturday last, 24 July. Clara’s first game was against the hosts Tullamore. We were short a few players and had 8 under 8s in our squad. Tullamore led from start to finish, leading by 0-4 to 0-0 at half time and by 1-6 to 0-0 at full time, the goal coming from the last kick of the ball. The second game was against St. Vincent’s and they won easily by 4-5 to 0-0. Our final game was against Shamrocks, and they won by 4-5 to 2-4. Panel. Craig Flynn, Dean Larkin, Aaron Tuohy, Ciaran Ennis, Edward Cullen, Shane Gavin, Alex Guilfoyle, Cathal O Meara, Christopher Rabbitte, Conor Dolan, Alex Marlow, Conor Minnock, Cormac Delaney, Jack Reynolds, Adam Kelly, Stephen Roe, Adam McCloskey, Thomas Devine, Patrick Phelan and Dylan Taylor.  All the players took part at various times during the 3 games, and afterwards received a drink and crisps from the host club. The entire panel enjoyed the day. On Sunday last, the team played hosts to DER Gaels. We got off to a bad start and were behind by 4-3 to 0-2 at half time. Clara’s two points were scored by Lorcan Cornally. Clara held their own in the second half and the full time score was 6-5 to 2-5. Scores for Clara in the second half were Edward Cullen 0-1 from a free, Alex Guilfoyle and Cathal O Meara 1-1 each. Team Craig Flynn, Ciaran Ennis, Dean Larkin, Aaron Tuohy, Ciaran Rooney, Edward Cullen, Alex Marlow, Alex Guilfoyle, Cathal O Meara, Christopher Rabbitte, Conor Dolan, Conor Minnock, Shane Gavin and Lorcan Cornally.

WEEKLY LOTTO

Weekly Lotto 31/07/10-There was no winner of the weekly club lotto jackpot. The winning numbers were 2-10-12-17. There were seven match three winners who will receive €25 and they were Tom Cooke, Catherine Geoghegan, Mike Coonan, Liz Holleran, Hugh Farrell, Paul Kennedy and Tommy Owens. Next weeks lotto takes place in Baggot’s and the Jackpot is €3650. Thanks to all who support our lotto and thanks to all our ticket sellers.

SPONSOR A SOD

“Sponsor a Sod”- Clara GAA club would like to invite all current and past members (and anyone with any connection to the club, no matter how tenuous!) to be part of the launch of the new official Clara GAA Club website and the ‘Sponsor a Sod’ campaign. As part of our fund raising campaign to complete the new Championship pitch in Kilcoursey members and friends of the club are invited to sponsor a sod on the new pitch. Sponsors will receive a piece of the virtual pitch on a special page on our new website with each “sod” being added piece by piece to the page. GOLF CLASSIC

Golf Classic- The club annual Golf classic took part last bank holiday Monday in The Esker Hills Golf Course. A good day was had by all with the rain holding off for the most part. The competition was based on a three ball stable ford and the prize winners were as follows. 1st– Brendan O Meara, Joe rock and Michael Sheridan,  2nd Paddy Browne, Joe Casey and Tom Browne, 3rd Stephen Coughlan, David Mullen and Derek Coughlan. Non GUI– 1st Eddie Newman, Stephen Cunningham and D Mc Loughlin, 2nd Pat Sheridan, C Dolan and K Kennedy, 3rd Peter Flanagan, Wayne Flanagan and Colin Flanagan. Front Nine- Michael Evans, K Maddan and N Penny. Back Nine- Michael Duignan, Brian Gavin and David Reynolds. The two nearest to the pins were won by Peter Flanagan and David Reynolds. And the Oliver Hall Memorial prize was won by Michael Evans.
