Teagasc Signpost Programme is a finalist in Sustainability category of the Irish Times Innovation Awards 2022
The Teagasc Signpost programme has been announced as a finalist in the Sustainability category of The Irish Times Innovation Awards 2022. They have been nominated for their leadership role in establishing the “whole-of-sector” Signpost Programme, which has been launched to lead and support Irish farmers in climate action. Programme partners include farmers, agri-food industry orgnisations, state organisations, farm organisations and media.
Tom O’Dwyer, Head of the Signpost Programme, Teagasc, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award. We recognised that a whole of industry approach, with farmers at the core, was required, so set about establishing a collaborative partnership of agri-food organisations to support farmers as they transition to even more sustainable farming systems. Teagasc research had already identified a range of solutions, or mitigation actions, and a priority for the Signpost Programme is to bring science to practice, initially on our network of 120 Signpost Farms, and subsequently on all farms.”
Tom O’Dwyer said: “We are looking forward to the awards ceremony on 9th November, but even being named as a finalist in this category has demonstrated the value of this initiative.”
The Irish Times Innovation Awards aim to recognise and promote the best service, product, or operational innovations throughout the island. The finalists were selected by an independent panel of judges to secure a place at the final and a chance to win the overall ‘Innovation of the Year’ award as well as a unique and high profile communications and advertising package worth €100,000. Category Winners will receive a €10,000 communications package in Business+Innovation and a one year premium digital subscription to The Irish Times.
Teagasc will be competing against two other finalists in their category. The winners of the competition will be announced at an awards ceremony in Dublin on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022.
