Making Farming Profitable & Sustainable

National Organic Training Skillnet (NOTS) are pleased to announce the Biological Farming Conference on the 12th & 13th of November 2018 in the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore Co Offaly.

This 2-day event will feature experts from America and Canada in conjunction with Irish pioneers. The conference will focus on what can be achieved at farm level in terms of adopting this farming approach into the current farming system.  Biological farming focuses more on the soil biology than the soil chemistry and as many farmers are finding, they can reduce input costs while improving soil structure. Biological farming techniques can be applied in all farming types regardless of the enterprise.  The International Speakers are Gary Zimmer from Mid Western Bio-Ag specialising in Dairy Nutrition and Cereals, Dan Kitteridge, Bio Nutrient specialising in Horticulture and Joel Williams from Integrated cereals focusing on Soil Science. Irish speakers include cereal. Dairy and Beef & Horticulture with agri-consultants discussing their soil biology work on Irish Farms.

Looking after the soil is key to all agricultural production regardless of the enterprise carried out above the ground,  This 2 day event provides an opportunity to hear from farmers and other experts in what is can be achieved in managing the soil biology. The event provides an opportunity to network with other farmers whom are seeking to improve farm efficiency and returning their farms to profitability.

The event is now a Department of Agriculture approved Knowledge transfer event for Tillage, Dairying , Beef and Sheep event.
