Snail farming in Ireland has generated a significant amount of interest in recent years. It’s a relatively new idea that is seen as a potentially attractive option as it requires relatively low acreage to create a business. Its new to Ireland and as result many farmers have set up in a trial and error state with some assistance from National Organic Training Skillnet. The seminar will offer a first introduction to those interested in snail farming and seeking information on the what’s involved. The aim of the seminar is to hear first-hand from international and Irish snail farmers on what worked and what doesn’t work. How we can adopt international best practice and discuss bets routes to market.
Sean McGloin, Network Manager of National Organic Training Skillnet noted that “The seminar is great opportunity to meet the pioneers and hear their full story of what’s involved in snail farming in Ireland. Additionally, the evening meal is also a great event to network with likeminded individuals and those within sector. This is the 3rd annual conference and it is always a very enjoyable event for those attending”
