Health Staff Choir Launching Christmas Single In Aid Of Pieta House
The Minister for Health, Mr Simon Harris, will launch the Health Voices Choir Christmas single “Carol of the Bells” and “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” as part of the first National Patient Safety Office Conference in Dublin Castle..
The joint initiative between the HSE, INMO and Beaumont Hospital brought together 200 health service staff and as many as 20 choirs from all over the country to record this special single and raise money for PIETA House this Christmas.
Mr Liam Doran, General Secretary of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) said he was delighted that the Organisation was in a position to work in co-operation with health employers in promoting such a worthy venture. “Suicide, he said, is a major challenge in our society and many many families have been so touched by it throughout 2016”. He said “the work of PIETA House was exceptional in the field and it was a great opportunity for the staff of the health service to show their support for a very worthwhile charity”.
The Minister will officially launch the single in Dublin Castle and members of the choir will perform “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” to the audience attending the First National Patient Safety Conference afterwards. A video of the single “Carol of the Bells” is available on YouTube and the CD goes on sale throughout the health service this weekend. The single is also available on iTunes.
