Support Daffodil Day in Offaly to ensure free services for cancer patients
Daffodil Day takes place this Friday 27th of March 2015
Ireland’s oldest flagship fundraising day, Daffodil Day, which is kindly supported by Dell, takes place this Friday, 27th of March 2015. The Irish Cancer Society is looking for support in Offaly to ensure the continued provision of free services for cancer patients and their families. Most recent figures show that 499 people were diagnosed with cancer in Offaly in 2012.
Funds raised on Daffodil Day by thousands of volunteers across Ireland go directly to fund the work of the Society across support, prevention, research and advocacy. Night Nursing is one service funded by Daffodil Day. Last year, the Society’s nurses provided 7,800 nights of care to over 1,670 patients with 299 nights of care provided to people in Offaly. This service is fully funded by the people of Ireland who consistently support the work of the Society.
John McCormack, CEO of the Irish Cancer Society said: “Our thousands of loyal supporters in Offaly and across the country are ready for Daffodil Day on Friday. This is our biggest fundraising day and with cancer rates increasing every year, we want to ensure that we can continue to meet the demand for our services and cancer research work.
