Nominate your Offaly Carer
The Irish Red Cross is calling for Offaly nominations for the 2013 Carer of the Year Awards, open to any member of the public currently providing voluntary care. This year’s prizes include a relaxing break for two at a 4 star Carlton Hotel, with dinner on one evening as well as a cash prize.
3474 of Ireland’s 187,000 Carers are from Offaly. Millions of hours of care work are given voluntarily each week by family carers of all ages, some as young as fifteen years old.
Donal Forde, Irish Red Cross Secretary General, praised Ireland’s Carers, “Any of us could find ourselves in need of care assistance, either for ourselves or for a loved one. It is vital that we continue to support our Carers in their roles and enable them to create a safe and comfortable environment for themselves and the care recipient.”
Nomination forms are available from the Irish Red Cross www.redcross.ie and should be returned no later than Friday 15th November.
As part of its Health and Social Care Programme, the Irish Red Cross aims to deliver humanitarian services to vulnerable people and communities in need across the country. In support of Ireland’s Carer’s the charity offers a range of resources and services; including the Carers Handbook, ‘Helping You to Care’ course, therapeutic hand care and skin camouflage services.
