U14 HURLING

Clara U14 hurlers hosted Ferbane/Belmont after Ferbane & Belmont pitches were deemed water logged last Friday evening. The game started well for Clara scoring an early goal and 2 pts but Ferbane/Belmont upped their game and scored 2-03 to take the lead going into half-time. The second half continued as the 1st half finished and Ferbane/Belmont scored 2-03 quickly to take a 9 pt lead. Things were looking bad and changes were needed. 5 subs were introduced and in a nail-biting finish Clara scored 2-03 to earn a well-deserved draw on a scoreline of 4-08 to 4-08. Both teams must be complemented on such an exciting game played in a very sporting manner. We would like to thank Clara’s Bord Na nOg secretary Kevin Roe and our field committee whose tireless work behind the scenes ensured that this game could take place.

Clara’s panel included; Eoin Dunne, Mark Doorley, Callum Egan, Ciaran Doyle, David Falsey (Capt), Nathan Bracken, Thomas Dolan, Seamus O’Brien, Mark Newman, Josh McCluskey, Conor Egan, Alex Roe, Daryl O’ Brien, Josh Fleming, Josh Kearney, Gary Kelly, Jason Devine, Ruairi Cushen, Lee Fleming, Sean Fleming, Wesley Johnson

UNDER 16 HURLING

Clara U-16 hurlers hosted Ferbane/Belmont in the 3rd round of the championship last Monday night on the very well prepared new pitch. After a 4 week layoff for exams, Clara started off very slow into the game and Ferbane/Belmont burst into a 1-4 to 1 point lead after 20 minutes. However Clara were now getting into the game and some switches in personnel were making a difference. The score at half-time was Ferbane/Belmont 1-5 to Clara’s 0-5. Clara upped their second half performance and scored 2 goals to take control of the game, however Ferbane/Belmont fought back and with only 3 points in it 2-12 to 1-12 with time almost up it left a very exiting finish but Clara held out for well-deserved victory.

The Clara panel was Darren Fleming, Glen Cunningham, Niall Keenan, Calum Egan, Luke Dignam,Colm Doyle, David Falsey, Leon Egan, Kevin O’Meara , Adam Dolan, Mark Fallon, Martin Fleming, Seamus O’Brien, Denis Hacket, Alan Gavin, Steven Buckley, Johnathan Hanamy, Carl Stewart, Dermot Doolan.
