G.A.A CLUB NOTES DATE: 03 JULY 2012

LOTTO

The numbers drawn in Monday [25TH June 2012] night’s Lotto were 06 07 24 29. There was no Jackpot Winner of €4,600 and No Match 3 Winners [Match 3 Prize Fund Increased to €800 in draw on Monday 02 July].  Next week’s draw will take place in in High Chaparel, Geashill  on Monday 09th July 2012.

 

DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

In their penultimate game of the Division 1 League last Thursday evening Raheen Intermediate Footballers suffered another defeat against Edenderry in Edenderry on a scoreline of 3-13 to 0-06. Raheen made a bright start to the game and by midway through the first half Raheen were leading by 4 points to 3 Then a few mins later Edenderry turned it round when they got through to score their first goal followed immediately by a point and this is how it stayed for theremainder of the half as Edenderry lead at the break by 1-04 to 0-04. Any hope of a comeback were quashed as Edenderry pulled clear with the first 6 points of the second half before the sides swapped a point apiece mid way through the half. Edenderry secured the win with their second goal coming in between 2 more points but Raheen did score the final point but Edenderry wrapped it up woth their 3rd goal in stoppage time.

JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Raheen Hurlers got off to the perfect start to their Junior B Championship campaign with an emphatic opening round win against Crinkle in Crinkle last Sunday morning on a scoreline of 6-13 to 1-03. Raheen opened the scoring with the first point before Ian O’Halloran got the ball rolling with opening goal inside 5 mins followed 2 mins later by Raheen’s second goal from Paddy Rigney. Crinkle then got off the mark with 2 points within the space of a couple of mins but for the remainder of the half it was complete one way traffic as Raheen imposed their superierority on the game as they struck for 3 more goals, 2 from Paddy Rigney to complete his hattrick and 1 from Jason Hassett along with 8 points which saw Raheen go into the break with a comprehensive lead of 5-09 to 0-02 from which there could be no way back. Crinkle were first off the mark in the second half with their only goal inside 3 mins. Following a lengthy break in play for an injury to a Crinkle player Raheen got back into scoring mode adding 4 more points along with another goal again from Paddy Rigney, his fourth and Raheen’s sixth of the game as Crinkle could only manage 1 more point for the remainder of the game. There will certainily be tougher tests ahead for Raheen this year but for the moment the Championship is up and running with the first win.

DIVISION 4 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Raheen Junior Footballers continue the Div 4 League by taking on Clonbullogue in Geashill this Wednesday (04 July) @ 7:30pm. All support would be appreciated.

 

JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Raheen Hurlers continue their Junior B Championship campaign this Friday evening (06 July) @ 7:30pm when they take on Ballinamere in Ballinamere. All support would be appreciated.
