Celebrating Moneygall and President Obama
To Mark the First Anniversary of President Obama’s Historic Visit To Moneygall
the Development Association has arranged a Photography Exhibition by Denny
Lynch
This fascinating exhibition by American photographer Denny Lynch
documents the people and the town of Moneygall on May 22 and 23 of
2011. During those two extraordinary days Denny captured images of
shopkeepers, visitors, painted houses, signs, musicians and of course
the President of the United States and the First Lady. In Denny’s
words ?It was a smorgasbord of great subject matter for a
photographer!? In addition, this presentation provides us with
photographs Mr. Lynch took in Washington D.C. on the President’s
Inauguration Day (January 20, 2009) and the party he attended that
night at the Phoenix Park Hotel for Irish American Democrats. Denny
Lynch has been coming to Moneygall since 2008 when he first made
friends with Henry Healy and his family. He is absolutely delighted
and honoured to share his photographs with you.
Born in Baltimore Maryland, Denny Lynch received his Bachelor of
Science Degree in History and his Master of Education Degree from
Towson University. Mr. Lynch’s photographs have become part of the
permanent collections of The Museum of The City of New York and the
New York Historical Society. He has exhibited his work in venues
ranging from the Embassy of Ireland in Washington D.C. to the
Monaghan County Museum to the American Library in Paris. Denny’s
paternal grandparents were both from Co. Kerry and his maternal
grandfather was from Co. Monaghan. In 1999 Mr. Lynch was granted dual
citizenship. In 2010 Denny was selected as the photographer for the
book Monuments To Heaven Baltimore’s Historic Houses of Worship. He
is married to graphic designer Paula Bogert.
The exhibition will be opened by Minister Alan Kelly T.D. in Moneygall on
Tuesday 22nd May at 8:00pm in the Old C.O.I School on the Main Street.
