Kathryn Thomas and Micheal O’Muircheartaigh launch Pieta House’s annual fundraiser Darkness into Light
Today (Wednesday, 4th April) GAA legend Micheál O’Muircheartaigh and RTÉ’s
The Voice presenter Kathryn Thomas launched Pieta House’s annual fundraiser
– Darkness into Light which will take place in 14 locations around the
country at 4am on Saturday, 12th May 2012.
Pieta House, the suicide and self-harm crisis centre is calling on people
from all over the country to bring two friends with them to walk, jog or
run 5km to raise funds and increase awareness about suicide and self-harm.

Following a record turnout last year in Dublin, Limerick, Galway, Cork,
Clare and Kerry the event will now take place in 14 locations around the
country. Counties Cavan, Waterford, Kildare, Laois, Roscommon, Tipperary,
Mayo and Wicklow are now adding their support to Darkness into Light. At
4am on Saturday, May 12th thousands of people will gather in darkness and
walk, run or jog from the darkness into light as dawn breaks. Entrants can
walk or jog the course at their own pace and for those that enjoy a
challenge, there will be a special running lane.
