JUNIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

This year’s playing campaign for Raheen GAA Club ended dissappointingly last Saturday afternoon in Ballinamere when the club Hurlers were beaten by Brosna Gaels in the Junior Championship Relegation playoff on a scoreline of 3-06 to 0-03 which sees Raheen return back down to Junior B ranks for next year. This game saw the the last 2 winners of the Junior B Championship come up against one another and unfortunatley it was the 2010 winners Brosna Gaels who came out on top. Raheen did open the scoring with a pointed free from Jason Hassett just 3 minutes in but then 2 goals within the space of a minute less than 10 mins later set Brosna Gaels on their way. Raheen did respond immediately with ther second point from Ciaran Direen and this is how it remained until the stroke of half time when Brosna Gaels sent over their first point which saw them lead at the break by 2-01 to 0-02. The second half was an even more disappointing affair for Raheen as we added just one more point from a free from Paddy Rigney while Brosna Gaels scored another 1-05 to edge further ahead and seal the win.

RAHEEN: Padraig Direen, Craig O’Halloran, Eoghan Bolton, Sean Martin Pierce, Paddy Arnold, Paddy Rigney (0-01), Fionan Direen, Steve Coughlan, Niall Dempsey, Ciaran Direen (0-01), Jason Hassett (0-01), Michael James Pierce, Eana Direen, Brian Kennedy, Keith Quinn.
