Na Fianna GAA Football Club Notes
U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Na Fianna U16 Footballers battled all the way but were unfortunately beaten by neighbours St Broughans in their re-arranged and penultimate game of the group stage of the Championship in Cloinbullogue last Monday week on a scoreline of 3-09 to 3-07 in a game played in dreadfull weather conditions. The early stages of the first half saw St Broughans open up a 3 point to 1 lead before they got in to score their first goal.midway through the half. Na Fianna responded immediately and within 2 mins had dispatched 2 goals to take the lead. This was as good as it got for Na Fianna in the half as the remaining minutes saw St Broughans register 1-03 without reply which helped them lead at the break by 2-06 to 2-01. Na Fianna needed a good start to the second half and they duly got it by sending over 4 points in a row inside 10 mins to reduce the deficit down to just 1 but try as they might Na Fianna could not get the equaliser. Then midway though the half St Broughans opened their second half account by scoring 1-01 to re-establish their 5 point lead. The sides then added a point apiece before Na Fianna got right back into in the final min by firing the ball into the net for their 3rd goal followed immediately by a point but then in stoppage time St Broughans sealed the win with their final point.
