JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Raheen Junior Footballers got their first result of their Junior B Championship campaign last Thursday evening in Geashill as they salvaged a draw against Tubber on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-18. Raheen got off to a flyer as they opened their account by registering 1-02 without reply inside the first 5 mins, the goal coming when Sean Gorman sent in a high ball from midfield which was taken by Colin McHugh just inside the square and he rounded the keeper to fire the ball to the net. This spurned Tubber into action and over the remainder of the half they got up and running with double scores 8 points to Raheen’s 4. This saw Raheen lead at the break 1-06 to 0-08. Tubber made the bright start to the second half as they put over 5 points without reply. Then in the 8th min Raheen were awarded a penalty when Jimmy Coughlan was brought down in the box, Sean Gorman took it with his first shot saved but he followed up the rebound to shoot the ball to the net for Raheen’s second goal. Over the next 20 mins Tubber first pulled ahead with another 3 points before Raheen hit back with 4 points to draw level. Then in the last couple of mins of normal time Tubber appeared to have won it by getting 2 more points but in stoppage time Darren Monagher and Eoghan Bolton put over a point apiece for Raheen to earn the draw.
