Cllr Leahy commends Banagher’s community spirit
INDEPENDENT Cllr John Leahy has welcomed the recent work carried out on the road way leading up Banagher Cemetery.
Cllr Leahy explained that the road way was ‘in bad need of repair and was a major issue especially in wet weather when potholes on the road way filled with water, hampering motorists, cyclists and pedestrians’.
He complimented the spirit and pride in ones place demonstrated by local Community Employment workers on their day off and Banagher Concrete for sponsoring the material for the road way.
Cllr Leahy pointed out that volunteerism will have a greater role to play in local communities throughout the county in the years ahead due to serious financial constraints facing local authorities.
