Ferbane GAA Club notes for w/e 16th October
JUNIOR B FOOTBALL
Commiserations to the Junior B footballers who lost out to Ballycumber on a 2-5 to 1-11 scoreline in Ballycumber on Saturday afternoon in the replay of their championship semi final. This was another close game which could have gone either way, the goals coming from Mel Keenaghan and a Joe Kearns penalty. The result was a disappointing end to the season for a squad of players that produced some excellent football throughout the year, and who could easily have been preparing for a county final with a little bit more luck.
Ferbane football club would like to thank the players who made a great effort this year, and the manager Brian Lowry for his very hard work in moulding this team and making it as successful as they have been. After guiding a new group to championship success last year, it looked for a long time as if a repeat was on the cards, but sadly it wasn’t to be.
It’s crucially important however that Ferbane remain competitive at every level of football and next year we will look forward to many of these players taking part in every level of football within the club.
The full team that lined out was:
Aengus Coughlan; Joe Kenny, James Murphy, Warren Walsh; Paudge Malone, Tom Gilligan, Dermot Kenny; Brendan Wynne, Joe Kearns; David Cox, Shane Dunne, Colm Kenny; Mel Keenaghan, Alan Egan, Nicky Claffey.
The subs used were Brian Gleeson, Cyril Kavanagh, Kevin Flynn and David Kenny.
