U14 HURLERS REACH COUNTY FINAL

U14 Hurling- Congratulations to the Clara U14 Hurlers on qualifying for the 2010 county final. Clara played Drumcullen in Mucklagh last Monday evening the 26^th of July. Anyone at the match will agree this team has what it takes to bring the U14H title back to Clara once again. Clara were up for the game and the final scoreline of 4-8 to 1-9 does not do justice to a very skilful Drumcullen side as Clara scored 2 fortuitous goals in the last 10 minutes after the Drumcullen goalie picked up an injury. Both teams played some tough but skilful hurling and provided a very entertaining game for those who were present at the match. But in the end it was Clara who pulled away and gained a place in the county final against CRC Gaels. Clara GAA club would like to wish Shane Lowry best wishes this weekend in Killarney on his defence of his Irish Open Golf title.

U12H SEMI FINAL

U12 Hurling- Clara U12 Hurlers will travel to Killcormac next Tuesday evening the 3^rd of August to take on CRC Gaels in the county Semi- Final. Throw in for the game will be at 7pm.As seen from the support the U14 hurlers had in Mucklagh last Monday night Clara supporters become the sixteenth man on the team, please come along to support the lads and wear your Black and Whites

“SPONSOR A SOD”

“Sponsor a Sod”- Clara GAA club would like to invite all current and past members (and anyone with any connection to the club, no matter how tenuous!) to be part of the launch of the new official Clara GAA Club website and the ‘Sponsor a Sod’ campaign. As part of our fund raising campaign to complete the new Championship pitch in Kilcoursey members and friends of the club are invited to sponsor a sod on the new pitch. Sponsors will receive a piece of the virtual pitch on a special page on our new website with each “sod” being added piece by piece to the page. WEEKLY LOTTO

Weekly Lotto 24/07/10-There was no winner of the weekly club lotto jackpot. The winning numbers were 4-12-18-20. There were seven match three winners who will receive €25 and they were Brigie Egan, Frank Feery, Osin Guilfoyle, Mary Touhey, Kelsey Touhey, Ollie Hall and Josie & Jennifer. Next weeks lotto takes place in Cowen’s and the Jackpot is €3500. Thanks to all who support our lotto and thanks to all our ticket sellers.

U-14 FOOTBALL

Clara v St Broughan’s Mon 19^th July 2010 in Pairc Bride Clara.

Clara played St Broughan’s in what was to be a must win game for the aforementioned if they were to progress to the semi-final stages of the championship. Clara started brightly and an early goal settled them down. After 20 minutes the game was all but over as Clara led by 3-6 to 0-1 and they just pushed on from there to win on a scoreline of 8-13 to 1-8. The overall performance was a hardworking one but there were patches in the game when Clara went to sleep. They will have to play for a full 60 minutes against the stronger teams that make the latter stages if they are to come out on top, taking nothing away from a very spirited St Broughan’s side who never gave up. Best for Clara were Darren Fleming (2-3) Mark Fallon (3-2) Adam Dolan (0-3). And there were strong performances from Niall Keenan, David Newman, Luke Dignam, Colm Doyle and Leon Egan. Scorers Clara – Mark Fallon 3-2 Darren Fleming  2-3, Kevin o Meara 1-1, Luke Dignam 1-1, Seamus o Brien 1-0, Adam Dolan 0-3,Stephen Buckley 0-1, Leon Egan 0-1 and John Hanamy 0-1.

GOLF CLASSIC

Golf Classic-Have you your team ready for the Clara Gaa Annual Golf Classic this August bank holiday Monday in Esker Hills Golf Club. This year’s competition is a 3 ball stable ford the cost per team is €150 including meal. Tee times are available from 9am, contact M Sheridan 0876161588, Aaron Baggot 0872301858 or Brian Gavin. Any individuals or company’s who wish to support the event can sponsor a hole for €50. All going well at the weekend Shane could be there with the 3 Irish Open Trophy once again.
