Dinner Dance

Clara GAA are proud to announce that 9 time All Ireland Hurling winner and 9 time All Star recipient Tommy Walsh will be our Special Guest when we hold our Dinner Dance/Presentation on 27th February at 8pm in the Clara GAA Centre. On the night we will be presenting our Junior Hurlers with their Junior ‘A’ Championship medals along with presenting our Minor Footballers with their Minor ‘B’ Championship medals along with their Division 1 League medals. There will be a three course meal commencing at 8.30pm. The meal will be followed with music by The Vows. Tickets on the night cost €20 and can be got from any member of the committee. It promises to be a fantastic night as we celebrate our 2015 Championship successes. It will be formal dress on the night.

Under 21 Football Championship

Clara played Durrow on Friday night last in the U21 football championship in Ballinamere. On what was a cold night, Durrow got the first point. David Fleming replied with a well taken goal and followed this up with a point. Durrow then got a goal of their own. They then got another goal which they followed up with a point and we trailed 2-02 to 1-01 midway through the half. Carl then got a point from distance which was cancelled out with one from Durrow. Carl then got another. There was no further score in the half and we went in 2-03 to 1-03 at half time.
Durrow got the opening score of the 2nd half and followed it up with another to leave us 5 points down after 5 mins of the half. D. Fleming then got our first of the half from a free after 12 mins and we trailed by 4. There was no further score for a few minutes before D. Fleming got another to narrow the gap to 3 with ten mins to go. Durrow widened this to 4 again which was again narrowed to 3 when Alan Gavin scored a point. The sides then swapped points and when David Fleming pointed in injury time there were two points in it. This was the last score of the half and Clara lost on a scoreline of 2-06 to 1-08.

Clara GAA club would like to congratulate our Senior Ballad Group on winning the County Title at the County Final, held in Daingean on Saturdaynight last.

Clara Club Shop

Clara GAA Club will be launching an online club shop in the coming weeks. All club gear and leisure wear can be purchased through this.

Appreciation Night

An appreciation night will be held on Wednesday 16th March in The Mill for everyone who helped out with Underage Football and Hurling during 2015.

Foundation Course Now Available

Clara GAA Club will be holding a Foundation Coaching course on 13th February at 9.30am in the convent. This course is mandatory for all coaches going forward for the year 2016. For further queries please contact Brian Gavin (087-2411986) or Tom Naughton (087-9407593).

Lotto Results

The draw for the weekly club lotto took place on Sunday night last at Bingo. The numbers drawn were: 10-12-13-17. There was no winner of the jackpot. There were 4 Match 3 winners who receive €40 each and these were: Enda McCloskey, Pat Dalton, Val, Louise & Annette and Liz Holleran.

Next weeks’ jackpot is €15,300 and the draw will be held at Bingo on Sunday 14th February.

Membership and Yearly Lotto Subsription

Membership for 2016 and the yearly lotto subscription of €75 are now due and these can be paid to any member of the committee. Each person who purchases a yearly lotto along with a national draw ticket €10 will receive a free Clara GAA Car Sticker for 2016.
