Limerick Chamber encourages businesses to prepare for Eircode

Eircode, Ireland’s new postcode system, goes live this July. The postcode system will take away the hassle and eliminate mistakes when finding addresses in Ireland.  Businesses are being encouraged to embrace the new postcode system now and are invited to attend a free Business Breakfast on the Thursday 25th June at 7.45am in the Clarion Hotel, Steamboat Quay.

 The unique postcode system will help businesses to provide more cost effective services around the country with the likelihood for undelivered packages and delayed deliveries becoming a thing of the past. With so many businesses embracing online trade, an effective postcode system will improve efficiencies in scheduling of deliveries.

 Welcoming the introduction of Eircode, Limerick Chamber CEO said:

“A future proofed postcode system is something which Limerick Chamber has consistently called for over a number of years and we welcome the precise and efficient nature of the new system.”

 Eircode will also have an important impact on the public in a number of ways. Medical emergency services locating a call out address and the planning and delivery of Government services will all benefit from the new unique location codes.

 As well as displaying their own business’s Eircode, businesses will be able to purchase Eircode data products to help with customer address databases and verification of new addresses to name a few examples.

 Eircode will bring many benefits to Irish businesses, including:

·       faster and accurate address capture through websites and call centres;

·       better data management;

·       better customer services, sales and marketing campaigns;

·       risk assessment and fraud detection;

·       logistics planning – being able to optimise routes and delivery schedules;

·       better planning of services by private and public organisations.

Liam Duggan, Business Development Director of Eircode said:

“We have done a lot of groundwork communicating with businesses and recently shared costs for licenses and products, so that they can plan ahead. In the main, businesses are welcoming the introduction of a postcode system as they recognise the efficiency and commercial benefits this will bring them.”

Limerick Chamber, in partnership with Eircode, will host a breakfast briefing for businesses on Thursday 25thJune  from 7.45am – 9am in the Clarion Hotel, Steamboat Quay.  Please register to attend by email to Maura;mmcmahon@limerickchamber.ie
