Ireland’s retail sector showing strong growth – Eurostat

Latest Eurostat figures show retail trade growth bouncing back in Ireland. Year-on-year figures (April 2014 v. April 2015) show an increase of 6.9%, while month-on-month (March 2015 v. April 2015) show an increase of 3.2% Both of these figures far outstrip the retail growth in most other EU Member States. This means Ireland’s retail sector is currently one of the fastest growing in Europe. Only Romania’s figures are stronger.

Overall in the EU, retail trade growth was up 2.6% year-on-year and 0.6% month-on-month. Mail orders and internet, followed by food drink and tobacco, are among the better performers in EU retail trade in the last few months.

Detailed national figures are available in the report itself.
